Cytotron therapy a non-invasive treatment for osteoarthritis

Cytotron looks like a MRI machine and is a state-of-the-art therapeutic device based on Rotational Field Quantum Magnetic Resonance (RFQMR) which utilizes highly complex electromagnetic beams in the radio frequency spectrum controlled by a computer and guided by MRI. The beams are precisely controlled and focused onto tissues to alter the cell membrane potential of the target tissue cells which in turn stimulates cartilage growth in case of degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis. Relating about the working of the therapy Dr KP Loknath Kumar, Medical Director, Care Plus, Bengaluru which houses the Cytotron says, “The RFQMR therapy works by stimulating the protein synthesis responsible for cell reproduction in the target tissue, helping the growth of new cartilage tissue and reversing the cartilage degeneration. The RFQMR treatment is a very simple procedure. The patient relaxes on a comfortable padded mattress while a trained therapist guides the bed horizontally into the gantry, positioning or marking the target tissue by laser for treatment. The patient will not feel anything while being treated and can relax and talk to visitors, watch television or a video or listen to music or even take a nap during the procedure.”
A typical course of treatment requires about 21 days with 30-60 minutes session administered every day. Dr Loknath further stated: “We have treated about 1,060 patients through the RFQMR therapy and a majority of them have avoided knee replacement. Many patients have started feeling the improvement just after five treatment sessions. Most of the patients undergoing treatment through the RFQMR therapy have also stopped taking any pain reduction medications from the moment they have started the treatment. The RFQMR therapy has demonstrated success in over 90% of patients treated with significant improvement in pain relief, increased mobility, can climb the stairs and walk 1-5 kms freely without any support.”
Majority of the patients who were treated with the RFQMR therapy were in the age group of 60-80 years and few in the age group of 35-40 years. Of recent we also had patients from Malaysia, United States of America and Europe at our Care Plus centre in Bengaluru which houses the cytotron equipment, he further added.
One of the best features of the cytotron device is that it is developed by Centre for Advanced Research and Development (CARD) – a division of Scalene Cybernetics in India. As far as the safety aspect is concerned, both the electric and magnetic field emissions from RFQMR exposure are below the levels specified by the International Commission for Non-lonising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). Currently, it is available at few centers in Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab, Cochin and Bengaluru.
