DataWind to leverage HomeShop18’s multimedia retail platform
DataWind Inc. (TSX: DW), a technology major specializing in low cost internet connectivity and wireless web access products, today announced that it will partner with e-commerce company, HomeShop18, in order to reach more consumers via HomeShop18’s integrated multimedia environment. The two companies will collaborate on sales programs via broadcast, mobile and internet media with the aim of providing consumers with better access to UbiSlates, India’s hottest selling Android tablet from the lower price range, along with other internet access devices.
In recent months, DataWind has expanded its distribution network through a series of conventional, modern and e-commerce distribution agreements. The company’s UbiSlate line of tablets and PocketSurfer range of smartphones are currently available across India at garden variety mobile stores and electronics superstores as well. The new e-commerce partnerships are expected to support DataWind’s existing retail infrastructure.

In the last half of 2014, DataWind has also formed alliances with UniverCell in the southern region and Spice Retail in the north and western regions, while also establishing its own distribution network in the eastern part of the country. The company expects its recent tie up with HomeShop18 to help close distribution gaps by making the most of HomeShop18’s TV shopping network.
