Get that confident smile with Digital Smile Design – the newest technology in dental sciences

Smile increases your face value. Often have you heard this saying, but there are few people who tend to lose their confidence as their frontal tooth are not inclined evenly and sigh away from giving a smile. Despite using braces for over years they fail to get that normal good looking evenly inclined tooth. Well, for those looking ahead to have a beautiful, healthy, natural and confident smile, Digital Smile Design (DSD), the newest technology in dental sciences could be the apt solution.

Unlike the traditional treatment procedure, where the impression of the space between the tooth are taken first then the braces and crown are prepared accordingly, where patient do not know how it looks like post the treatment, using the DSD the patient actually gets to know how their tooth looks like after the implant. “With the DSD technique, first a photo is taken, analyzed and a mock up in done and shown to the patient before doing the actual implant” said Dr.Balasubramanya K.V. Periodontist and Laser Practitioner (Bibrach, Germany), at Sakra World Hospital, Bengaluru.

Very few dentists across the world have specialized in DSD and Sakra World Hospital is one among the few centers in India providing the DSD treatment facility. The simplicity of this protocol is that it does not require any special equipment, software or major financial investment. Any notebook, tablet or PC, with a basic presentation software such as Apple Keynote or MS Powerpoint present in a dental practice can be used in the process of Digital Smile Design, Dr Bala added.

The whole concept is based upon the analysis of the patients facial and dental proportions, utilizing a predetermined series of high quality digital photographs and videos. Analysing them provides a unique understanding of the relationship between teeth, gums, lips, smile with the facial features in motion and with emotion. Digital drawings are made on the pictures, which are communicated to the dental technician and team when designing the smile. Hence, the result is achieved with full perfection. It is also to be noted that the experiences gathered from across the world from patients undergoing the DSD has been overwhelming.

Among all the advantages of DSD techniques, few includes – the diagnostic abilities are facilitated through an extra-and-intra oral aesthetic and structural evaluation, improved communication between the team members providing a better visual perception, education and motivation for patients and increased effectiveness of case presentation and accordingly case acceptance.
