Get pain free, effective dental treatment with laser dentistry technology
Laser use in terms of medical treatment procedure is the new thing that is being heard often in recent times. In the similar field, as an effective and safe treatment procedure, laser dentistry has been the newest technology based treatment procedure for bleeding gums, pyorrhea or periodontitis, bone loss around the tooth, cosmetic treatment like dark gums, gummy smiles and teeth whitening.
Speaking to Techspirit, Dr Balasubramanya K.V. Periodontist and Laser Practitioner (Bibrach, Germany), at Sakra World Hospital, Bengaluru said: “The application of lasers has opened new doors for our dentist which has enabled them perform a wide variety of dental procedures which otherwise would have been difficult. We use laser technology for: Early detection of cavities, when used in dental filling lasers are capable of killing bacteria located in a cavity resulting in long term tooth restoration, dental lasers can reshape gum tissue and bone to expose healthier tooth structure, expose partially erupted wisdom teeth, reduce pain associated with cold sores and minimize healing time, used to speed up teeth whitening and they may also be used for the painless and suture-free removal of soft tissue folds often caused by ill-fitting dentures.”
Laser dentistry is considered to be beneficial compared to that of traditional dentistry.Major among them includes -Procedures performed using soft tissue dental lasers does not require stitches, certain laser procedures does not require anesthesia, laser dentistry minimizes bleeding and aids in the clotting of blood vessels that are exposed, bacterial infections are minimized and wounds heal faster and damage to surrounding tissue is minimal.
The laser mainly works by delivering energy in the form of light. When used for surgical and dental procedures, the laser acts as a cutting instrument or a vaporizer of tissue that it comes in contact with. When used for “curing” a filling, the laser helps to strengthen the bond between the filling and the tooth. When used in teeth-whitening procedures, the laser acts as a heat source and enhances the effect of tooth-bleaching agents.
Though the introduction of laser dentistry at Sakra World Hospital is of very recent but the response has been good says, Dr Balasubramanya. Meanwhile, because of its throw back cost and lesser waiting period, its been able to attract many international patients, he opined.
