HackerRank announces winners of CodeSprint India 2014
HackerRank, a programming platform for technical assessments conducted the onsite finale of one of India’s biggest coding contests “CodeSprint India 2014” in Bangalore.
After a grueling 5 hours of coding, Akashdeep Nain and Priyank Bhatnagar from NIT Allahabad were crowned champions, landing them a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. They were followed by Praneeth and Surya Kiran from IIT Roorkee who came in a close second winning a cash prize of 25,000. Pushkar Singh and Vinay Guthal from IIT Hyderabad came in third winning a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. In addition to the cash reward, the winners will also receive office hours with Steven Skiena, certificates from Vinod Khosla, and an opportunity to apply to top tech companies in the U.S. like Palantir, Quora, and RocketFuel.
The build up for the coding contest started a month ago on September 13, 2014 with a phenomenal number of 8,416 teams from all over India comprising 15000+ coders. The contest opened to a flurry of submissions which started in the first ten minutes of the contest and went on until the very last minute. With 9 teams at the finale, the selection process was extremely challenging. The competition had different stages, ranging from an easy qualification stage to an elimination round comprising challenges of increased difficulty.
Harishankaran Karunanidhi, Co-founder of HackerRank said that, “It was fantastic to see 15000 young participants from across the country battle it out against each other. We thank all the participants, sponsors and our wonderful team of problem setters who created 27 excellent challenges with varied levels of difficulty.” Each member of every team which solved at least one challenge in any of the qualification rounds was rewarded with $50 Amazon web credits.
