In his lecture, Mr. Price provided an overview of how renewable energy generation is a means to enhance reliability and security of supply. He talked about the future of electricity storage and commercial opportunities presented by the same. The lecture also touched upon the increasing interest around the world about electricity storage as one of the ways to counteract the variability of renewable power sources such as wind and solar and also to provide balancing services to the grid.
Nearly 150 attendees from both industry and leading academia attended the lecture.
During the course of the lecture, Mr. Anthony Price said, “We invest in insurance to protect our assets. But the key to making our energy infrastructure secure is to invest in energy storage. It is a privilege to be able to work with the IET to deliver this message in India.
It has been good to meet so many people from industry and academia and other stakeholders in the power industry who are so interested in energy storage.”
“The IET is deeply committed to boosting the research pool in India and providing renewed solutions to the issues of energy generation and electricity storage. Renewable Energy promises a huge potential and we are glad to have Mr. Anthony Price providing a global perspective” said Mr. Shekhar Sanyal, Country Head and Director, IET India.
The IET is a professional society for the engineering and technology community; the IET regularly organises lectures by prominent personalities across the world on a range of subjects such as core engineering, power and future technologies to help and equip professionals and students.
Founded 143 years ago, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), earlier known as (IEE) is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET is based in the UK and has 163,000+ members in 127 countries, with active networks of members in 37 countries.
In India, the IET has over 12,000 members, 8 Local Networks and focuses on the Energy, Information and Communications, Transport and Built Environment sectors.
Part of its remit is promoting, recognising and rewarding excellence and it does this through four awards programmes: The Ambition Awards, Achievement Awards, Innovation Awards and Young Woman Engineer of the Year Awards.
