Opt for JackBoy for Safe Alcohol Level Testing

The alcometer test used for finding the alcohol level especially among those driving late night by the traffic police in major cities like Bengaluru have undergone serious criticism in relation with the prospective health hazards that might crop up with the use of straw in the alcometer. Well, now JackBoy could be the best option to test alcohol level in a safe way.

JackBoy is a sensor platform developed by Anirudh Sharma, a graduate of the Fluid Interfaces Group, MIT Media Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The sensor costs just around Rs 300. The sensor is a small screwdriver-like device which can be connected to any smartphone through the slot designed for connecting headphones.

Besides functioning as a breath analyser, JackBoy can also be adapted to 100 other applications that can be attached to a smart phone. Other application can include , including sensing exhaust levels of a vehicle, heavy metals, air pollution level and also soil pH level to name a few.

Among other accolades of Anirudh is his “Lechal” project, where in he along with his friend Krispian Lawrence had developed a GPS guided shoe for the visually challenged and this had also earned him world-wide recognition. The shoe can be connected to the user’s smartphone through Bluetooth and vibrates according to the directions to the destination. For his serial innovations he was also named as the ‘Indian Innovator of the Year’ by the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 2011.
